Case Study #4

Case Study #4 - Openbite

Openbite

In case study #4 the patient had an open bite and spacing between the front teeth.  Inadequate vertical overlap of the front teeth characterizes an openbite.  It is caused by oral habits such as tongue thrust, digit sucking, or when the jaws don't grow evenly.  Timing of treatment is critical to the overall success of the therapy.  In this case, orthodontic treatment brought the teeth into correct alignment to achieve a more pleasing smile and profile.
